FAQs
Everything you needed to know about the convention but were afraid to ask!
Where can I buy tickets?
For this year (2024) all the tickets are sold out. They went on sale at midday on April 12th and sold out in under two hours 🤯
While we realise this is disappointing, it's very encouraging for the convention and for the Yorkshire board gaming community as it means we'll be able to do this bigger and better in future years. If you're keen to come in future years, sign up to the Early Access list on the homepage.
When are you open?
The event begins at 5pm on Friday 11th October and ends at 5pm on Sunday 13th October. We'll close at 11pm each night, starting at 9am the next morning. More information here 👉https://ybgc.co.uk/schedule
Where can I get cash out?
There are cash machines available within 20 meters of the entrance to the Spurriergate Centre - one on High Ousegate and one on the corner of Market street and Spurriergate
I sometimes get overwhelmed by busy or loud spaces
Don't worry! There is a small quiet office space which is specifically set aside for the purpose of having a little timeout and decompressing. We can't guarantee you sole use of the room, but we won't be allowing any board games or noisy activities in there.
Where can I park my car for the event?
There is no parking directly outside the Spurriergate centre on account of it being in the middle of York city centre, but the nearest car parks are
Is there anything I can't bring to the event?
Yes we have a very short list of disallowed items just so we can ensure the safety and comfort of everyone
- nuts of any kind
- alcohol of any kind
- knives/weapons
If there's anything you're uncertain about do please ask!
We'll be doing brief bag checks on the doors just to make sure we're upholding these rules
Will there be a cloak room we can use at the venue?
Unfortunately no, there's not a space we can use for this
Can I smoke/vape in the convention centre?
No you'll have to go outside. There is a small alleyway to the rear of the building so you don't have to stand on the main street
Is the Spurriergate Centre accessible? What accessibility measures are you putting in place?
The ground floor of the Spurriergate Centre is fully accessible, and this is where the toilets and all other unique amenities can be found. The mezzanine level will only be used for open gaming space, so no-one should be excluded from activities.
We have a small dedicated sensory space to allow a timeout from the bustle of the day, and we've got table leg extenders at the ready so that powered wheelchairs users can get just as close to the tables for gaming as anyone else.
More generally we will be following advice from this excellent resource shared by our friends at herefor.games 👉 https://herefor.games/knowledge/
